Project Scope

Rogue Records is an independent music label with a mission to champion bold, unconventional artists who push creative boundaries. The brand required a logo that would match the raw energy and uncompromising attitude of the artists it represents — unapologetically creative and fiercely independent in every detail.

The Brief

The label needed a versatile logo that would look equally at home on vinyl sleeves, streaming platform thumbnails, festival stages, and artist merchandise. The design had to project creative independence and musical credibility without ever limiting the label to any single genre or visual aesthetic.

An independent record label’s logo is a flag planted in the ground — it declares what you stand for before a single note is played.

We approached the brief with the energy of a record launch — fast-paced creative exploration across multiple bold directions. The typography-led approach won out, featuring custom letterforms that carry attitude through unexpected proportions and a distinctive treatment of the letter ‘O’ that doubles as a powerful visual motif across all brand applications.

Our Approach

The logo was stress-tested across the most extreme music industry applications — from the tiny constraints of a Spotify artist profile to the massive scale of a festival backdrop. We developed a flexible usage system allowing the logo to adapt its expression from clean corporate contexts to raw, distressed street-level marketing treatments.

The Result

Rogue Records launched with an identity that immediately attracted attention from artists and industry professionals across the East African music scene. The logo has become a genuine badge of pride for signed artists, with merchandise featuring the mark performing consistently well among the label’s growing and dedicated fanbase.
